Gamtel pound Sierra Leone Armed Forces in CAF Confederation Cup

Telecommunication giants Gamtel on Saturday beat Sierra Leone Armed Forces 2-0 in the second leg of the preliminaries to reach the first round of the 2014 CAF Confederation game played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

Gamtel, who beat Sierra Leone Armed Forces 1-0 in the first leg at the National Stadium in Freetown at the weekend, opened the scores through Sam Gibba in the 3rd minute of the game from a clever finish to give the telecommunication giants the lead.

Sarja Jarjuesey snatched in the second goal for Gamtel in the 86th minute of the game from an astonishing close range strike to earn Gamtel a convincing win over their Sierra Leonean counterparts to advance to the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Sierra Leone Armed Forces fought back for an equalizer but could not break through Gamtel’s solid defence line thus the game ended 2-0 in favour of Gamtel. 

The victory has earned the telecommunication giants a place in the first round of the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup.

On the other hand, the defeat has left Sierra Leone Armed Forces out of the CAF Confederation Cup and will now have to hang their boots till next season.
