GAMTEL FC last Saturday drew with Horoya FC of Guinea 1-1 at the 28 September Stadium in Conakry, and has now qualified for the semi-finals of the West African Football Union Championship, WAFU, expected to be held in Togo from 8-13 December 2011.

The team returned on Tuesday evening from Guinea.

It would be recalled that, at the beginning of the competition, Gamtel eliminated Nyarry Tally of Senegal. During the first leg in Dakar, they drew and during the return leg in Banjul, the team won by one goal to nil.

This gave them the opportunity to meet Horoya FC, and during the first leg in Banjul, in August, Gamtel used their home strength and defeated Horoya by three goals to nil and drew the match in the return leg in Guinea.

Speaking to Pointsport yesterday, the head coach of Gamtel FC, Tapha Manneh, said the team will work hard ahead of the semi-final.

He seized the opportunity to thank the management of Gamtel for the support, and Gambians for their prayers.
