Gamtel beats Bakau United to top GFF 1St Division

Telecommunications giants Gamtel on Tuesday beat Bakau United 2-0 in the week seven fixtures played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium, to snatch top spot in the 2014-2015 Gambia Football Federation division one league, with 14 points in seven games and a single point ahead of Brikama United, Real de Banjul and Bombada, who have 13 points each in seven games.

Gamtel now tops the country’s premier league, after Brikama United and Real de Banjul shared the spoils in their week seven fixtures played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium at the weekend.

The newly-promoted side Bombada beat Hawks 2-1 at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium to level on points with Brikama United and Real de Banjul in the league, with 13 points each in seven games.

Elsewhere, Banjul United defeated Interior on the same score line at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on the same day.

Banjul United are mid-table with 11 points in seven outings, Interior and Hawks are with 7 points each in seven games.

Bakau United are struggling in second place from bottom with 5 points in seven games, and are hoping to win their remaining fixtures in order to boost their hopes of staying in the top flight next season, and avoid relegation to the second division.
