Gammol FC
came from one-nil down to beat Galp FC 2-1 to claim the 2013 Sanyang Nawettan
league title in a tightly-contested final game played at the Sanyang football
field on Saturday.
Galp FC opened the scoring through striker Malang Jassey in the 5th minute of the game from an extraordinary strike to give his side the lead.
Gammol FC responded quickly and levelled the tally through winger Muhammed Jawara in the 7th minute of the game to cancel out Malang Jassey’s strike.
Baboucarr Sanyang alias Kebba grabbed the winner for Gammol FC in the 10th minute of the game from a powerful long-range shot to earn Gammol FC their trophy in the Sanyang Nawettan.
As champions, Gammol went home with a giant trophy and cash prize of D7,000, whilst Galp FC received D5,000 as runners-up.
Assan Sanyang of Galp received D200 as best player of the nawettan; Real Madrid FC received D500 as the most disciplined club in the tourney.
The final game was graced by the National Assembly member for Kombo South Constituency Hon.Abdou Colley, APRC Youth Mobilizer Lamin Jabang, Colonel Kawsu Sanyang of the Gambia Armed Forces, Lady Councillor Lisa Darboe and Modou Lamin Bojang.
