Gambisara FC will face Garawol FC in the final of the Soninkara annual youths football tournament in a date to be decided by the organising committee.
Gambisara FC made it to the final after beating Julangele FC by a goal to nil in their semifinal encounter played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on 20 May 2014.
Amara Jawara’s 20th minute superb half volley was all but enough to earn his side all three points and guarantee them a place in the final.
Garawol FC secured their place to the final after beating Alunghari FC 5-3 on a post-match penalty shootout following a goalless draw on regulation time in their semifinal game played at the Serrekunda East Park on 18 May 2014.
Ousman Dukureh, head coach of Gambisara FC, thanked the Almighty God for the victory, saying he was really delighted making it to the final.
He said their reaching the final was all down to hard work and motivation, heightened by their target in the second period of the game of defending their goal if they could not score another.
Two of his senior midfield players were absent during the game for injury and other ailments, which he said had an impact on them in the game.
Head coach Dukureh pointed out that their aim is to lift the trophy this season, saying they had tried the previous years but were unsuccessful.
With God’s help they would lift the trophy this year, as the squad has what it takes to do so, he said.
All they have to do is continue to train hard as well as rectify their mistakes before the final, he added.
Muhammed Tierra, head coach of Julangele FC, said the nature of football is: “sometimes you win, sometimes you lose,” adding that they have accepted the defeat in good faith.
Lack of concentration played a great role in them conceding the only goal that stopped them from reaching the final, he stated, but refused to blame his strikers for failing to capitalise on the numerous chances they had.
They did well from the beginning of the competition this year, he remarked, saying the final result is the making of God hence they accept defeat.
They would prepare “very well” for next year, he said while commending the organisers of the competition.
