Gambian music producer speaks

Music producers and promoters have played a very important role in promoting the Gambian music industry to higher heights.

Wole Rendall, a music producer, multi instrumentalist and a live studio engineer, told Entertainment in a chat that he has never studied music, but has got the talent for music, adding that his know-how in music is a gift from God.

Mr. Rendall explained that his area of specialisation was auto-mechanics, which he studied at GTTI up to City and Guilds advance level. "From there, I started developing myself in the music field."

In 2003, Mr. Rendall said, he received the "best producer of the year" award. The music producer furthered revealed that since he started music, up to date, he has produced almost 15 albums, both at home and abroad.

He said very soon the Alliance Franco Gambienne and its counterpart in Senegal would join together and work on a compilation album.

In conclusion, Mr Rendall called on musicians to go and registered with the Music Union. He also advised them to learn how to play instruments in order to develop their music.

"Let them associate themselves with music producers, so that they can find it very easy in developing their music," he said.
