The Gambia national U-20 team yesterday returned home from Makeni in Sierra Leone, following their 2017 African U-20 Youth Championship qualifiers triumph over Sierra Leone national U-20 team.

The Darling Scorpions under the guidance of head coach Omar Ceesay assisted by assistant coach Abdoulie Bojang thumped Sierra Leone 2-0 in the first leg of the 2017 African U-20 Youth Championship qualifiers played in Makeni at the weekend.

Generation Foot’s pair Bunn Sanneh and captain Abdoulie Jallow were on target for the Darling Scorpions in the game.

The Gambia will host Sierra Leone in the second leg in Banjul on 23 April 2016, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau at 4.30pm.

The Darling Scorpions need only a draw to advance to the second round against North African powerhouse Morocco following their resounding victory over Shooting Stars in the first leg tie played in Makeni at the weekend, but a heavy defeat in the hands of the Shooting Stars in the second leg in Banjul on 23 April 2016 will see the Darling Scorpions out and Sierra Leone through to the second round against Morocco.
