The Gambia U-13 cricket team have opened their campaign yesterday, in their debut appearance in the ICC North /West Cricket Championship in Ghana with a win over Sierra Leone.
The youthful and determined side beat Sierra Leone by 30 runs and 4 wickets. Suraye Aswaneh got four wickets, Lamin Touray 2 while Mustapha Suwareh got one.
The Gambia U-13 team which left Banjul over the weekend recorded 85 runs in 20 overs for 5 wickets.
Sierra Leone got 55 runs all out in 8.3 overs.
The team, coached by Wilfred Riley, will clash with Nigeria today and will also meet other opponents like Ghana and Cameroon during the one week championship.
