Gambian athletes have continued their dominance on the tracks across the region in recent meetings.

Competing in the IAAF grand prix in Abidjan yesterday, Adama Jammeh swept gold in both of his sprint events.

The Gambian, who is currently training in Dakar, took gold in the 100 meters with a time of 10.47 before grabbing gold in the 200 meters at 20.88.

Meanwhile there was gold again in the cadet category, as Tijan Keita improved on his recent African record to finish 47.32 in the 400 meters in the Ecowas youth championship also in Abidjan.

His compatriot Wandifa Sanneh finished at a respectable sixth place in the same competition.

The 400meter duo arrived here last night while Adama who traveled from Dakar is due in Banjul later today.

GAA president Dodou Joof and his staff welcomed the boys at the airport and praised them for making the name of the Gambia known again in just a short time after their successful meeting in the African youth championship.
