GFF domestic league to wind up at weekends

The 2015-2016 First-Eco Partners-sponsored Gambia Football Federation domestic division one league season first round is set to wrap up this weekend with inspiring and rousing fixtures.

As part of week-eleven fixtures, Steve Biko will meet Brikama United at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium.

Bakau giant killers are mid-table in the top flight with 12 points in ten league matches. They will be battling to beat Sateyba boys to bounce back in contention for the league title after losing to Gambia Armed Forces 1-0 at the weekend.

Brikama United are currently second spot in the top flight with 18 points in ten league matches four points behind league leaders Gambia Ports Authority.They will be tussling to humble Bakau giant killers to grab the maximum points to close the gap on league leaders Gambia Ports Authority.

Banjul United will welcome Bombada at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium. The Banjul-based outfit are one place above relegation zone with 7 points in ten league matches. They will be accentuating to beat Bombada in order to improve their position in the league.

The Sateyba-based outfit are struggling second place from bottom in the premier tier with only 6 points in nine league matches with a game in hand against Wallidan. They are prepared to make all efforts to beat Banjul United in order to move away from the relegation zone.

Elsewhere, Serrekunda United will meet Gambia Armed Forces at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

The Serrekunda-based outfit are currently rooted at the bottom in the country’s premier league with only 5 points in nine league matches with a game in hand against Gamtel. They are bent on beating Gambia Armed Forces in order to move away from the red zone.

The soldiers are 3rd in the top flight with 16 points in ten league matches, and will try at all cost to beat Serrekunda United and mount pressure on league leaders Gambia Ports Authority.

On Sunday 20 February 2016, Real De Banjul will clash with Gambia Ports Authority in the all-Banjul derby fixtures at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.

Real De Banjul are fourth place in the top flight with 14 points in ten league matches nine points behind Gambia Ports Authority. They will be fluttering to beat the ferry boys in order to close the gap and also keep their league ambitions alive.

Gambia Ports Authority are presentlytopping the league with 22 points in ten league matches, and will be preparing to defeat city boys in order to renew their lead in the summit and also keep their title ambitions after several years of trophy drought.

Wallidan will play against Hawks at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium. The blue boys are fifth in the top flight with 13 points in nine league matches with a game in hand against Bombada. They will be brawling to whip Red Devils to mount pressure on league leaders Gambia Ports Authority.

Hawks are two places away from safety with 9 points in ten league matches, and will be rebellious to beat Wallidan to improve their position in the league and also maintain their hopes alive.

Elsewhere, Samger will battle it out with the reigning league champions Gamtel at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on the same day.

The Academy boys are mid-table in the top flight with 12 points in ten league matches.

They will be tussling to beat Gamtel to recover in contention for the league title after losing two games in a row against Hawks and Gambia Ports Authority 2-1 in their previous outings.

The telecommunication giants are also mid-table in the top flight with 11 points in nine league matches with a game in hand against Serrekunda United. They will be firm to defeat Samger in order to increase their chances of retaining their 2014-2015 division league title.
