Gambia Golf Association’s 2010 Open and Pro Am golf tournament yesterday kicked off at the Fajara Golf course.
The competition, which runs from 8 to 13 December 2010, brought together more than 50 foreign professional golfers.
Amateur golfers from Senegal, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Nigeria, Sweden and the United Kingdom as well as more than 50 Gambian professional golfers and amateurs will take part in the weeklong golf competition.
Shortly after his training session yesterday, Lamin Sarr, the only Gambian professional golf teacher in Sweden and a Caddy in the 70s, told Pointsport that he teaches young golfers in Sweden.
Sarr said he was an amateur golf champion in 1992 before graduating to join professional golfers in The Gambia.
He is now working towards achieving a successful championship.
