Caretaker coaches attached to the Gambia national home-based U-23 team set for a friendly match in Morocco to take place in Rabat this Saturday have named an 18-man squad following two weeks of intensive preparatory programme ahead of the invitational friendly encounter.
The Gambia Football Association (GFA) has selected three local coaches in Alagie Sarr, Essa Sambou and Lamin Sambou tasked with the responsibility of putting in place a formidable U-23 team that can achieve the desired result when the game takes centre stage in two days’ time.
The team, which comprises players mainly from the previous U-20 team that went to South Africa for the Caf African U-20 youth tournament, is due to leave the country for Rabat this morning.
The friendly match was made possible thanks to the effort of the Moroccan Football Association, who is also expected to take full responsibility for all the expenses of the Gambian team, Pointsport has gathered from GFA president Seedy M.B. Kinteh in an interview with this reporter yesterday evening at the team’s training centre.
The 18-man squad for Saturday’s international friendly match includes Alagie Nyabally (Bakau United), Bubacarr Sanyang (Brikama United), Lamin Gibba (Wallidan), Saihou Jawneh (Bakau United), Omar Colley (Wallidan), Adama Sabally (Brikama United), Emmanuel Gomez (Samger), Mamut Saine (Seaview), Bubacarr Sanneh (Real de Banjul), Pa Sulayman Badjie (Samger), Mustapha Jatta (Hawks), Lamin Sarjo Samateh (Samger), Bully Drammeh (Brikama United), Sam Gibba (GPA), Modou Sarr (Gamtel), Assan Ceesay (Gamtel), Foday Trawally (Brikama United) and Babucarr Jammeh (Steve Biko).
