Gambia, Morocco set to strengthen bilateral ties

As part of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Rabat, Morocco, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, Dr. Mamadou Tangara, on December 12th 2019 held a bilateral meeting with his Moroccan counterpart, H.E. Nasser Bourita, following which press briefing was organised.

Addressing the press conference, Dr. Tangara renewed the Government of The Gambia’s determination to strengthen ties with the possible opening of consulate in Dakhla, Moroccan Sahara, in the near future. He assured that The Gambia and Morocco will work together to give concrete substance to the visions of the two Heads of State.

The Honourable Minister returned gratitude to Morocco for supporting Gambia during our challenging times while assuring the North African country of Gambia’s support in defence of Morocco’s territorial integrity.

For his part, Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, said his engagement with Dr. Tangara bolstered the commitment of King Mohammed VI to develop south-south cooperation with Gambia.
