The Gambia football national team yesterday left Banjul for Senegal ahead of their crucial 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers away to Mauritania on Friday 25 March 2016.
The Scorpions are set to camp in Senegal where they are expected to hold a series of training sessions before proceeding to Mauritania on Wednesday 23 March for the continent’s biggest football fray qualifiers against fellow West Africans.
The invited foreign-based players are set to join the team’s camp in Senegal today, Monday 21 March 2016, and will hold their first training session on the same day.
The Scorpions must beat Mauritania on Friday to fancy their chances of making their debut in the continent’s biggest football fiesta in their history.
The Scorpions are currently struggling second place from bottom in group M of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with a single point in two outings following their goalless draw to South Africa in June 2015, before losing at home to Cameroon in September 2015.
