President
Adama Barrow has said his coalition government is working with foreign partners
to ensure adequate electricity and water supply across The Gambia.
The
president also reiterated his government’s commitment to the rule of law and
respect for human rights.
He
was speaking on Saturday at a meeting in Lamin village as part of his ongoing
nationwide tour.
President
Barrow also held similar meetings in Sinchu Alagie and Sukuta in West Coast
Region. The rallies were attended by
cabinet ministers and executive members of Coalition 2016.
Speaking
at the meetings, President Barrow said The Gambia is a secular state and that
his government would promote democracy and enhance freedom.
The
president also thanked the respective communities for the trust and confidence
bestowed on the coalition leadership, while promising to construct the feeder
roads in the areas to enhance the movement of people, goods and services.
Minister
of Lands and Regional Government Lamin N Dibba said the government would create
employment opportunities and improve on the country’s agricultural sector.
He
called on the youth to desists from drug abuse and participate meaningfully in
national development.
