The President of Gambia Football Veteran Society, Alh Amadou Touray, who also doubles as the President of the Zone II Football Veterans has set plans to extend the membership of his organisation nationwide.
In an interview with Pointsport recently Touray stated that the aim of establishing the society is to bring all veterans together under one umbrella, and to also remember the good old days during their time as footballers. He noted that when the organisation was initially formed its activities were only centred within the Greater Banjul areas.
According to him, the society wants to extend its tentacles to all the regions of the country. He said they have started identifying focal persons in the regions to mobilise members so as to make the organisation engage veterans within those areas.
Touray said presently some of these focal persons have already started mobilising members for the society.
He said membership is open to veterans between the ages of 40 and above, adding that "if all the proper structures are in place, they will go on a nationwide tour to sensitise their members."
He also noted that plans are underway to organise friendly matches among the members of the society within the country.
