The Gambia are gearing up for their crunch 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers away to Mauritania billed for Friday 25 March 2016.
The Scorpions under the guidance of coach Sang Ndong are currently embarking on intensive training with the local-based players drawn from the domestic league for the crunch clash with the Mauritanian side, at the FIFA Goal Project in Old Yundum, to prepare his team for the game against fellow West Africans.
The Gambia are occupying second place from bottom in group M of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after snatching a single point in their two opening qualifiers following their goalless draw against South Africa in Durban on 13 June 2015, before losing to Cameroon 1-0 at home on 6 September 2015.
The Scorpions need only a victory against Mauritania to bring their hopes of qualifying for their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations after their sloppy start to the continent’s biggest football fiesta qualifiers.
