Gambia Armed Forces have been crowned champions of the 2013 National Inter-departmental football tournament after their 5-4 post-match penalty shootout victory over National Drugs Enforcement Agency in a well-attended final game, after a 1-1 draw in regulation time, at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on Sunday.
The final game was not an easy road to cross and both sides came into the game with the intention of winning the game and snatch the trophy but the normal time of the game failed to produce a winner hence the need for penalty shootout to determine the winner.
As champions, Gambia Armed Forces went home with a giant trophy and a prize of an undisclosed cash amount, whilst National Drugs Enforcement Agency received also a prize of an undisclosed cash amount as runners-up.
