The Gambia National team, better known as the Scorpions, on Saturday drew 1-1 with the newly crowned Super Nawettan champions Brikama zonal team in a well-attended friendly game played at the Brikama Mini Stadium.
The friendly was part of The Gambia’s preparations for their crucial 2014 World Cup qualifiers away to Ivory Coast in March 2013.
Both sides made remarkable performances in the game and created some goal-scoring opportunities but failed to capitalize on the chances thus the first half ended goalless.
Upon resumption of the game the Scorpions injected in several fresh legs to boost their attacking tag, which helped them to dominate ball possession and create series of goal-scoring opportunities.
Their efforts yielded dividend when substitute Sanna Nyassi netted the opener in the 73rd minute of the game from a clinical finish to give The Gambia the lead.
Brikama zonal team fought back and levelled the score through substitute Yankuba Jarjue in the 87th minute of the game to cancel out Sanna Nyassi 73rd minute opener to share the spoils.
