FSF co-ordinator on their success stories

The Coordinator for Fresh Star Foundation (FSF), Mr. Lamin S. Sanyang speaking in an interview with this reporter yesterday said FSF's main focus is to provide access to education and health care, provides resources and provision of food.

He said his foundation has in the past 18 months implemented some activities at Kwinella Lower Basic School and Health Centre as a pilot project.

He stated that one of the objectives of his foundation is to improve the quality of health services for the people of Kwinella and the Gambians in general, so as to contribute to the attainment of the MDGs on health.

Sanyang revealed that his foundation will replicated their work in other parts of the country in future.

He further revealed that since the formation of the foundation they have provided Kwinella Lower Basic School with monthly fish money, uniform for needy students, educational items, provide them with a borehole, solar panel, furnished their library with books, and renovated 7 toilets for students and a classroom.

He said in every three months his foundation sends some volunteer teachers and health personnel from the UK to Kwinella Lower Basic School and Health Centre with educational and health materials to help the community.

Noting that the foundation also supported triplets by providing them (triplets) with food and non-food items, he said they have just distributed 200 mosquito nets to women of Kwinella village.

Mr. Sanyang said recently they provided the women of Kwinella and its surroundings with milling machines in order to reduce the workload of women in those areas.

On the activities carried out at Kwinella Health Centre, he said they also renovated three health staff building, provided them with two solar batteries and water pump machines for the Health Centre.

According to him, the foundation also sent two volunteers doctors from the UK to work at Kwinella Health Centre.
