One Amdou Wane was recently convicted and sentenced to a mandatory jail term of four years with hard labour for the offence of shop-breaking and stealing by the Brikama Magistrates' Court presided over by Principal Magistrate Nkea.
According to the particulars of offence on court one, on 1st September 2010 at Tabokoto in the Western Region, the convicted person, Amdou Wane entered the house of one Abdoulie Conteh to commit a felony to wit stealing.
Count two stated that the accused after breaking and entering stole the following items: a laptop valued at D32,000, LG mobile phone valued at D7,500, Nokia mobile phone valued at D900, giving a total value of D46,000 and all being the property of the said Abdoulie Conteh.
The convicted person in his plea of mitigation begged the court to temper justice with mercy, saying that he was not fully with his senses at the time of committing the act.
