Four men namely, Modou Gaye, Modou Jallow, Fakebba Manneh and Mustapha Barrow, were yesterday 9th August 2010 arraigned before Magistrate Abdoulie Mbacke of the Bundung Magistrates' Court, charged with obtaining money by false pretence.
Meanwhile, the accused persons, who all pleaded not guilty to the charge, were granted court bail in the sum of D340, 000 with two Gambian sureties each.
The bail condition further stated that one of the sureties must have a landed property within the Greater Banjul Area.
Lawyer Lamin Camara represented all the accused persons.
According to the particulars of offence, on 4th June 2010, at Kombo North, all the accused persons with intent to defraud obtained from Modou Corr, Lamin Koteh Fatty and Sheriff Singhateh, the sum of $49,650 equivalent to D1, 340, 580, under the pretext that they have real gold dust, knowing that the said gold was fake.
The case was adjourned to 24th August 2010 for hearing.
