Foundation
for Rural Education, Wildlife and Environment, a charitable organisation based
in Banjulunding, Kombo North District, West Coast Region, recently handed over
13 hospital beds and mattresses and other supporting materials to the Ministry
of Health and Social Welfare in Banjul.
The
occasion was attended by the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr Omar Sey
and other top officials of the Ministry.
Speaking
on the occasion, the Foundation’s Executive Director William Adetona of the
organisation stated that the donated materials were made available through a
partnership with Crossroads Foundation.
The
materials are expected to be installed at health centres in the most
disadvantaged areas of the country to make quality health facilities available
to all irrespective of location.
The
executive director of the charity further expressed delight at supporting the
Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in complementing their strive to boost
the health sector.
He
also used the opportunity to thank the Government of The Gambia for creating an
environment conducive for the foundation to conduct its activities.
He
further assured the ministry that his “charity will continue to give support”
to the health sector of The Gambia.
He
also thanked the minister of Health and Social Welfare for his firm commitment
to the health sector, saying they would continue to support him to achieve his
dream in the health sector.
Top
officials of the Health Ministry commended the organisation for the gesture as
they highlighted some of the efforts of the government at making health
facilities available and affordable to all.
They
said the gesture by the organisation was “timely” and promised that “the
materials will be used for the intended purpose”.
