Former Observer sports editor’s case adjourned

Sep 2, 2011, 1:03 PM | Article By: Bakary Samateh

The trial of alleged giving of false information involving Nanama Keita, former observer sports editor, was yesterday adjourned at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court before Principal Magistrate Tabally.

When the case was called, the defence counsel, Neneh Cham, told the court that since the prosecuting officer was not in court, the defence was suggesting for the court to adjourn the case to a suitable date.

The case was subsequently adjourned till 12 September 2011.

It would be recalled that Nanama Keita was alleged to have in May 2011, in the city of Banjul, presented a petition letter to the Office of the President at State House claiming wrongful dismissal as the deputy editor-in-chief and head of Sports Desk, and financial malpractice by the managing director of the Daily Observer Newspaper Company, knowing the same information to be false and thereby committed an offence.
