Former Malack Chemist Employee Testifies

One Ahmadou Sowe, who was charged with stealing D149, 662 when he was an employee of Malack Chemist, testified recently before Principal Magistrate Ikpala of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court.

In his testimony, he told the court that since he started working at Malack Chemist, it was one Madam Laila Khadara who has always been his employer.

He stated that early in the morning he would open the doors and account sales for both the morning and evening and then bank them.

According to him, when his employer arrives in, they do the balancing of the sales.

He told the court that he opened his own private account with the Trust Bank Ltd. since 2005.

He adduced that every two to three days her boss and himself would reconcile the business activities of Malack Chemist up to 2008.

He further testified that when one Ali Tradoulsi saw his account book, he became angry and questioned him as to when he got the money and he told him that it's his own money

He stated that Ali Tradoulsi said the money belongs to his wife, but he insisted that the money belongs to him. He said his salary of D9,400 was taken from his account by Ali Tradoulsi but his wife advised him to return the money to him as it was his salary.

He narrated that Mr. Ali Tradoulsi refused and insisted that he will take him to the police. He said he withdrew D65, 000 from Trust Bank for the Koriteh.

He alleged that some police officers forced him to admit that he stole the money, which he denied and was detained for six days at Kairaba Police Station.

The case was adjourned to 9th December 2009.
