The economic crime case involving the former ministry of Agriculture permanent secretary, Ada Gaye, ex-programme coordinator of the Rural Finance Project, Lamin Fatajo, and ex-administrative manager of the Rural Finance Project, Lamin Mass, yesterday failed to proceed before Justice Abi of the Banjul High Court.

When the case was called, the DPP appeared for the state, BS Touray appeared for the 1st and 2nd accused persons while SM Tambadou appeared for the 3rd accused.

They were indicted on an 11-count amended charge, ranging from abuse of office to neglect of official duty, economic crimes and disobedience to statutory duty.

DPP then informed the court that he had his witness, Ebrima Jawara, in court, who is involved in a separate case with the accused persons and asked if the cases could be heard on different dates because he had just left the dock in a separate case, and found it difficult to enter the witness box.

Based on that, the DPP said, he was applying for an adjournment.

Defence counsel for both accused persons did not object to the application.

The DPP said he has already called three witnesses and he was left with three more witnesses.

The case was then adjourned for hearing to continue on 14, 15 and 16 March 2016.
