Foday Jabang elected as GYSDA president

Foday Jabang has been elected unopposed to serve as president of Gunjur Youth and Sports Development Association (GYSDA) for the next three years.

Foday Jabang replaced Buba Bada Bojang at the association’s congress held at the Gunjur Upper Basic School witnessed by team delegates.

The executive members are Lamin Darboe (alias C), 1st vice president; Alieu Jatto, 2nd vice president; Bunama Cham, Secretary General; Ousman Jammeh, Assistant Secretary; Nuha Barrow, Treasurer; Omar N. Darboe, Assistant Treasurer; Ebrima Jammeh alias Fabu, Auditor; Buba Star Janneh, Public Relations Officer, and Lamin Darboe, Assistant Public Relations Officer.

Speaking on the occasion, the newly elected president of the GYSDA, Foday Jabang, applauded the team delegates for electing him as the president of the GYSDA), adding that the sports committee is a volunteer organization which tries to maintain discipline and tolerance among teams in the tournament.

For his part, the outgoing president of the GYSDA, Buba Bada Bojang, said the congress marked another milestone in the history of sport in Gunjur.

Bojang thanked former referees Lamin Fish Touray, Buba Soto Touray, the late Bakary J.J. Bojang, Bakaryba and all those who helped during his playing days before he left for the United States.

Bojang, who guided Gunjur Zonal team to their first-ever Gambia Football Association (GFA) Super Nawettan Zonal semifinal in 2003 but lost to Bakau 2-1, has expressed confidence that the executives will lift sport to higher heights.
