Serrekunda West made an astonishing start to the first-ever female Super Nawettan competition after thumping Gunjur 5-0 in a group A encounter played at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium on Monday.

The Westside girls were absolutely brilliant and fascinating in the game and threatened South girls whilst creating several goal-scoring opportunities and managed to bang in five solid goals to bag the maximum points to keep their chances of qualifying for the semi-final.

The South girls responded back quickly for an equalizer but could not break through Westside girls’ formidable defence, thus the game ended 5-0 in favour of Serrekunda West.

Gunjur need to win their remaining fixtures to qualify for the quarterfinal after losing to Serrekunda West.

In other scores, Brikama defeated Brufut 2-0 in the opening game played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on Sunday. Striker Meita Sanneh netted a brace for Sateba girls in the 7th and 15th minutes of the game.

Serrekunda West and Brikama are with 3 points each in one game but Serrekunda are leading group A on goal difference, while Gunjur and Brufut are occupying bottom place in group A with zero point each in one game.
