As Dunes complete a brace over Passamai
FC
Bax on Friday thumped whipping boys Sibindinto FC 2-0 in the 2016 Green Vision
International Estate Company Limited-sponsored Gunjur Nawettan.
As
the reigning league and Super Cup champions Dunes FC, on the other hand,
completed a brace over Passamai FC.
FC
Bax were eliminated in the quarter and semifinals in the league and knockout
but qualified to the nawettan proper as the best loser after losing to Lanuja
FC on penalties following their goalless draw in regulation time.
Both
teams made a stunning start to the game and caused several goal-scoring
attempts at each other’s goal mouth but the first half ended blank.
Upon
resumption of the game, FC Bax brought in several fresh legs to strengthen
their striking force and did open the scores through substitute striker
Alasanna Touray alias Lana in the 74th minute of the game after capitalizing on
centre-back Ebrima Touray aka Rio’s defensive blunder, to fire home the opener.
Moment
later, FC Bax found themselves 2-0 up in the 76th minute of the game through an
own goal by defender Ebrima Touray aka Rio after striker Lamin Jallow aka
Sako’s shot was denied by the wood work to seal victory for FC Bax.
Sibindinto
FC reacted quickly for an equalizer but could not break through FC Bax’s solid
defence thus the game ended 2-0 in favour of FC Bax.
Elsewhere,
league and Super Cup champions Dunes FC completed a brace over Passamai FC
after beating Gunjur-based outfit 1-0 on Sunday.
It
would be recalled that Dunes FC thrashed Passamai FC 3-1 in the 2016 Gunjur
Super Cup final a week ago.
FC
Bax are leading group D with maximum 3 points in one game and Sibindinto FC
with zero point in one game.
Dunes
FC are also leading group A with maximum 3 points in one match and Passamai FC
with zero point in one match.
