Ex-Parliamentarian's Narcotic Case Deferred Again

The drug trial at the Banjul Magistrates' Court involving the Ex-Nianija Parliamentarian, Dawda Manneh and Demba Baldeh again failed to proceed on 22nd October 2009.

When the case was called, the State Prosecutor Mrs. Marley Wood, told the court that she was called by the Defence Counsel of the 1st accused to inform her that he had another matter at Brikama Magistrates' Court, urging the court to adjourn the case.

Mrs. Wood then informed the court that she had a witness to proceed.

The 1st accused Dawda Manneh, former APRC Nianija Parliamentarian raised concern over a series of adjournments, saying that the case had since September 2009 not proceeded.

The duo are alleged to have conspired and trafficked 9 kilograms and 260 grams of suspected cannabis.

Both denied the charges.

Magistrate Abeate adjourned the case to 10th November 2009.
