The assistant supplies officer at the Ministry of Agriculture, Alieu Tijan Savage, yesterday continued his testimony under cross-examination in the case involving former senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, before Justice Emmanuel Ahmadi of the Brikama High Court.
The accused persons are Alhagie Bakary Trawally, former permanent secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Momodou Mbye Jabang, former program coordinator at the Ministry of Agriculture, Modou Ceesay a businessman, Dr Amadou Sowe, former permanent secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Kekoi Kuyateh, former deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of agriculture, Dr Mustapha Ceesay, former deputy director general NARI, Awa Sey Touray, former supplies officer at the Ministry of Agriculture, Seedy Jarju, and Yusupha Jawara.
They were charged with five counts of economic crimes, three counts of uttering false documents and two counts of negligence of official duties.
Under cross-examination by defence counsel Sheriff Marie Tambedou, the witness told the court that both Dr Jobe, the NARI director general, and Dr Sowe, former permanent secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, were talking about the Indonesian fertilizer on GRTS during their visit to the store.
Savage added that both the 15: 15 and 15:15: 15 brands were brought out so as to enlighten the public about the application of the fertilizer.
PW5 added that the bags were displayed on GRTS, adding that no empty bag of fertilizer was brought out.
He denied that he held the empty bag at the time it was displayed.
