A man was recently arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates’Court before Magistrate Tabally for allegedly obtaining money by false pretence in relation to visa.
Foday Jallow pleaded not guilty to the charge and was subsequently granted court bail of D200,000, with two Gambian sureties, all of whom must be residents within the jurisdiction of the court.
The bail condition further stipulates that the sureties must also deposit their national identity cards with the court.
The charge sheet revealed that the accused, Foday Jallow, in August 2010, at Serrekunda market by false pretence and with intent to defraud, obtained D110,000 from one Amadou Sanyang with the pretext that he was going to procure him an European visa, which representation he knew was false.
The case was adjourned till 20 December 2010.
