Elite FIFA Refereeing Course kicks off today

Twenty-six elite referees drawn from the first division and second division leagues will today, 18 April 2011 commence at the Paradise Suites Hotel.

The five-day conclave will by directed by Joseph Wellington, Fifa Technical Instructor from Ghana, and Monsieur Mademba Mbacke, Fifa Physical Instructor from Senegal

The experts from the world governing body (Fifa) will be assisted by veteran Gambian referees: Mr Modou Sowe, Mr Jerreh Faye, Mr Adama Mbye and Mr Sering Sugufara.

Alieu K. Jammeh, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, will deliver the opening keynote address.

The Banjul training programme for elite Gambian referees will be graced by Sidi Bakeye Magassa, Fifa Referee Development Officer (RDO), Omar Sompo Ceesay, First Vice President of The Gambia Football Association, and other high profile sport administrators.
