Ecobank Gambia Limited, a pan-African bank, recently presented prizes to three winners of the mega raffle draw for the 2013 deposit mobilsation campaign.
The winners were Mustapha Sall, who won an air-ticket cost D34,860, Ismailia Semega, who got a one-year school fee of D30,000 and Modou Manneh a plasma TV worth D33,000.
The ceremony marking the presentation of these prizes, held at the Ecobank head office on Kairaba Avenue, was attended by senior management officials of the bank and customers.
Alhagie Bai Ceesay, Ecobank Kanifing branch manager, who was the master of ceremonies, reminded their customers that the presentation was the last draw for the 2013 deposit mobilisation campaign in which customers received a token of appreciation for patronizing Ecobank.
According to Mr Ceesay, Ecobank being the only pan-African bank on the continent, had the pleasure to award its customers, as a token of appreciation by the bank
He noted that Ecobank is the first bank of its kind in Africa, and does not belong to any individual but the African continent.
“It is a collective responsibility to tell your friends and family that Ecobank is the bank in the continent which is here to support Africans, and also make the continent to realize its dreams,” he said.
Ecobank, he added, employs a substantial number of Africans on the continent hence they should be patronized and made the first choice of the banking population in The Gambia.
Therefore, it is expected of every African to patronize the bank, he noted.
Fatou Jallow, Ecobank head of Domestic Banking, expressed delight and appreciation with customers joining the crusade in the Deposit Mobilization Campaign, saying the campaign would not have been possible without the participation of customers.
Ms Jallow stated that in the raffle draw everyone is a winner; all that one needs to do is to continue depositing money with Ecobank, “which is here to support the African continent”.
She noted that the campaign was just the beginning of the journey, adding that Ecobank had more to offer to its customers.
She remarked on the commitment of the bank in ploughing back to its customers, while encouraging everyone to bank with Ecobank, more so as it gives customers access to withdraw money from their accounts everywhere they find themselves on the continent.
Lamin Sanyang, head of operations & technology at Ecobank, who deputized the Managing Director of the bank, said Ecobank congratulated the winners and customers for partaking in the 2013 Deposit Mobilization Campaign as well as for attending the presentation of prizes to the three lucky winners.
“We are proud and happy with the level of the participation of our customers in this campaign,” he said, adding that the advancement of Ecobank is the responsibility of Africa, as it belongs to no individual but the African continent.
Ecobank is here for the economic development and financial integration of Africa, which is the responsibility of all Africans to contribute their individual quotas towards its advancement, he added.
Mr Sanyang challenged the people to open an account with Ecobank.
“We are very much appreciative of our customers and partners on the journey in developing Africa,” he added.
He thanked the entire staff of Ecobank for their commitment in ensuring their dream is realised.
In receiving their respective cheques, the winners expressed appreciation for the services of Ecobank, saying they would continue to encourage other people to join Ecobank, which is “here to alleviate poverty among Africans on the continent”.
They also commended the entire management of Ecobank and urged them to continue the good work and fruitful corporate social responsibility, saying: “Ecobank is the only bank at which you can have access to withdraw your money any country you go to on the continent.”
Malick S. Jallow, head of Local Corporate Affairs, gave the vote of thanks on the occasion.
