East selection on Sunday drew goalless with Senegalese-side Nyarii Tally in
their first friendly encounter played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
Alasan Balde missed a penalty for the visitors in the early minutes of the second period.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the game, Adama Jatta, the East Selection coach, said Nyarri Tally is a football team, whereas his side was just a selection, whose players only trained for two days.
His side created more chances, but were unable to convert them. Scoring goals is a general problem for Gambian strikers, he pointed out. As technicians they have a lot of work to do with strikers, he added.
Landry Lopy Didi, Nyarii Tally coach, said the team is preparing ahead of the start of the new Senegalese domestic league, adding that they got the test they expected from their Gambian opponent.
Now they know the weaknesses and strengths of the Serrekunda East Selection side, they hope to perform better when they face each other on Wednesday for the final two test games to be played at 3pm and 5pm.
