Dutch National Pleads Guilty to Sedition

Rene Beulen, the Dutch national who had been standing trial for sedition, yesterday changed his plea to guilty.

According to the charge sheet, Rene Beulen on Saturday 28th March 2009, at the Brufut P.I.U. post, said President Jammeh increased the taxi fares for white people and that he is too greedy and very corrupt, a charge he previously denied.

The case has now been adjourned until 21st April 2009.

MagistratePa Harry Jammeh is presiding over the case.
