Gunjur embrace Super Nawettan, WC Regional 3rd division victory celebrations

Gunjur on Saturday 15 July 2017 held Super Nawettan and West Coast Regional third division league victory celebrations at the Kundembo Hall in Gunjur Asselem.

Gunjur came from one nil down to defeat Banjul 2-1 in the final played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau to clinch the 2016 Super Nawettan title.

The best player for 2016 Super Nawettan Salifu Bojang alias Bapa and striker Malang Jassey alias Uncle were on target for Gunjur in the 36th and 77th minutes of the game respectively.

Gunjur United beat Greater Tomorrow of Brikama 1-0 in the final played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on Saturday 20 May 2017 to lift the 2016-2017 West Coast Regional third division league title.

Striker Malang Jassey alias Uncle was on target for Gunjur United in the second half to send the Gunjur-based football club to the second tier of Gambian football next season.

The victory celebrations was witnessed by the president of Gunjur United Football Club, Gunjur Super Nawettan team, players, sports committee members and fans.

The victory celebration cash was donated by Gunjurians residing in the diaspora after the town’s first country community biggest football fiesta success.
