The Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Magistrate Ngube, on 7 September 2011, convicted and sentenced one Njack Corr and Musa Sonko to three months in prison upon their own plea of guilty of the charge of housebreaking and stealing.
Njack Corr and Musa Sonko were said to have broken into a store at the Sankung Sillah building in Fajara and stole a wheelbarrow and a water tank belonging to one Omar Jawara.
They admitted the facts as narrated and begged the court to temper justice with mercy, saying they are married men with kids to take care of.
The prosecutor confirmed to the court that the accused persons were both first-time offenders.
Subsequently, the trial magistrate gave them a mitigated sentence of three months on count one and three months on count two. Both sentences are to run concurrently.
He ordered that the items recovered be returned to the complainant.
