Saihu Koita and Ebrima Sohna were on 19th May 2010 convicted by Magistrate MLK Bojang of the Kanifing Magistrate's Court for violating anti-littering law.
The first convict, Saihu Koita, who was charged with discharging liquid waste water from excavations in his compound into the public street was convicted and sentenced to a fine of D3000, in default to serve three months in prison.
The second convict, Ebrima Sohna, who was charged with discharging liquid water into the public street was convicted and sentenced to a fine of D2500, in default to serve one month in prison.
The convicts, in their plea of mitigation, begged the court's indulgence to temper justice with mercy.
In passing the sentence, the presiding Magistrate told the court that their plea of mitigation has been considered, but added that the offence committed was excusable, which according to the Magistrate, was forbidden in any law.
