Six hundred and sixty-nine (669) flood victims within Kanifing Municipality over the weekend received food aid from the World Food Program (WFP) through the Kanifing Municipal Disaster Committee, at a ceremony held at various distribution centers across the municipality.

Speaking at the various distribution centers, the KM Disaster Management Coordinator, Mrs. Binta Sey-Jadama, told the beneficiary families that her office can only assist them with some food items, but that does not mean that they will satisfy them on all their needs.

“We cannot replace all the damage caused to you by the floods, but we can at least make your life improve from one step to another,” she said, adding that the donated items were provided by the World Food Programme (WFP) through the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA).

At the Bakoteh distribution center, 269 flood victims received food items. In Kanifing, 73 flood victims drawn from Bakau and Old Jeshwang also received assistance.

In Tallinding, 327 families drawn from Faji Kunda, Abuko, New Jeshwang and Ebo Town received assistance.
