Drogba may return in trip to Banjul, FA boss sacks staff for criticising his omission

Ivorian Soccer coach Lamouchi has revealed that Drogba may return in their trip to Banjul next June after asking himself not to be invited for the game against Gambia last month.

But Coach Sabri Lamouchi was slammed by a journalist working for the Ivorian FA after he dropped Drogba from the squad against The Gambia, goal.com has revealed.

The Ivorian FA sacked the said journalist last Friday.

The Cote D’Ivoire Football Federation (Fif) president Sidy Diallo on Friday parted ways with one of his media officers at the body after the journalist disapproved of the removal of Didier Drogba from the list of players that defeated The Gambia 3-0 last month in the 2014 World Cup qualifying.

The FA boss described an article written by Jean Claude Djakus, who was employed at the body’s communication department, as sabotage to the national team and the Fif.

The story was published on the FA’s website on March 29 and essentially described Didier Drogba as a player currently indispensable to the Elephants and blamed Coach Sabri Lamouchi for his choice not to include the team’s all-time top scorer.

Diallo said the journalist was not dismissed for his comments but for breaching code of conducts and ethics binding him with the institution.
