In his defense, the accused said it was in the early hours of the morning when he was coming from Senegambia and came across a checkpoint and passed them.
He said he later headed to the airport junction and on arrived at Busumba, he met up with PIU truck, adding that the said truck was running fast and he left the way for it to pass.
Ceesay said they met up with him and hit his car, adding that he was later rushed to the Brikama Health Centre and three of his teeth were broken and was later discharged.
Under cross-examination, the prosecutor asked him that according to the sketch plan, it was correct that the accident occurs on the lane of the incoming truck GPF18, but the defendant denied that.
“I am putting it to you that you left your lane and hit the truck,” said prosecutor.
“No,” replied DW1.
“When did the accident occur?” asked prosecutor.
“It occurs at around 6am,” replied DW1.
“Did you drive the whole night?” asked prosecutor.
“No,” replied DW1.
“I am putting it to you that after the police visited the scene they realize that you were driving carelessly,” said prosecutor.
“No,” said DW1.
The case was then adjourned till 26 March 2014, for judgement.
