BAC threatens action against hoarding

The Brikama Area Council has issued a stern warning to vendors operating in all the council's markets, asking them to desist from hoarding or hiking prices of basic commodities.

A press release from the Office of the Chairman Brikama Area Council stated that any businessman/woman found wanting in this malpractice would risk the seizure of his or her canteen.

Below is the full text of the release:

"The Office of the Chairman Brikama Area Council is deeply concerned about the recent rise in the prices of basic commodities by the business community.

Therefore, the Management of Council is strongly urging vendors operating in all Council Markets to immediately desist from hoarding or hiking prices of basic commodities.

Any businessman/woman found wanting in the act will risk the seizure of his/her canteen.

The Local Market Committees within all Council's Markets are urged to be vigilant and to report such case to council. Therein cases shall be accordingly referred to the relevant authorities for appropriate action."
