The case involving Dr Gumbo Touray, Director of International Affairs at the University of the Gambia, was yesterday adjourned at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court before Principal Magistrate Tabally.

Dr Gumbo Touray, it was alleged, between March and April 2011 in Banjul, wrote a petition to the Office of the President, stating that the Vice Chancellor of the University of The Gambia Professor Kah is bent on employing his relatives at the University, which information he knew to be false.

When the case was called, the prosecuting police officer, superintendent Joof, told the court that the prosecution was applying for an adjournment.

He said the case was for cross-examination of the prosecution’s third witnesses Dr Omar Jah Jr.

He added that the defence counsel in the case, Pap Cheyassin Secka, was also not in court.

The case was accordingly adjourned till 20 October 2011.
