Dr. Ancha Jagne-Ceesay gives to nursery school

Dr. Ancha Jagne-Ceesay, a Gambian Philanthropist based in the United Kingdom on Tuesday donated educational materials and second hand clothing, worth over 2000 pounds sterling to a nursery school named after her in Bundung.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the school grounds, Dr Jagne-Ceesay said the main aim of the donation is to support the school with education and learning materials, noting that every year, she and her family assist schools in different areas to help address their shortcomings.

She stated that this year she would provide sponsorship for three children and has already given them D3, 000 for their three months rent. She revealed that her friend Polly Matcham has also donated $100 and another D2, 000 to the school, which she added, would also go a long way towards paying the rent of the school.

According to Dr. Ceesay, Polly has also promised to sponsor three children of the school annually.

For his part, the Imam Ratib of Banjul Alhagie Cherno Kah hailed Dr. Jagne Ceesay and family for what he described as a timely gesture. He stated that since her retirement, Dr. Jagne-Ceesay has been always assisting the needy and people with disability in The Gambia. He urged others to emulate Dr. Jagne-Ceesay's gesture.

Lamin Saidykhan, the Headmaster of Dr. Ancha Jagne Quality Foundation Nursery School thanked the donors for the good gesture, noting that they have been always supportive to the school in the areas of rent payment, school materials, among others.

Also in attendance at the presentation ceremony were Alh Ousman Ceesay, husband of Dr. Jange-Ceesay, Assia Ceesay and husband Gregg Scott, Martin Cheeserright, Ousman Njie and Maryam Njie.
