Demba Jarju: Paralympics player of the year

A resident of Manjai Kunda, Demba Jarjue was winner of the SJAG Paralympic player of the year award during the 4th National Sports Journalists Award held recently.

2011/12 achievements/contributions:

Demba Jarju qualified straight to the London 2012 Games with a timing of 30 seconds below the target time for qualification 35 seconds in Tunisia. Demba Jarju participated in the 100, 200, and 800metre races.

He won a recent sports event held in Brikama West Coast Region in 2010. He is a promising athlete who is determined to become the best in future events.

Previous achievements:

As a professional sportsman Jarju’s dream is, one day, to take part in the Paralympics representing The Gambia and showing other people with disabilities in the country that, despite his disability and lack of proper education, he would do what he is able to do and achieve for his country in his life time.
