Defence continued recently in the murder case involving one Lamin Njie, a resident of Brikama, who was accused of killing one Muhammed Fodiga, at Brikama Town.
It continued at the Special Criminal Court in Banjul before Justice Emmanuel Nkea with the evidence of defence witness one (DW1), Lamin Njie.
The accused, Lamin Njie, stated that after he was stoned by the deceased with the charcoal pot containing fire which burnt him on his cheek he then struggled to step down from the verandah.
“As a result of the attack by the deceased, I got a broken tooth, and then fell down bleeding from my mouth,” he said, adding that when the deceased attacked him the deceased also fell down.
He said people then told him he should not mind the deceased because since in the morning the deceased had been drinking alcohol.
“I went home and the landlord came for me and asked what the matter between me and the deceased was. The deceased came again and hit me,” he added.
“I was then taken to the police station where I gave my statement, which was written down,” he explained, saying he did not know whether what he said was what was written in the statement.
The case continues on 26 February 2013, for cross-examination.
