His Excellency Dr Ernest Bai Koroma, President of Sierra Leone and leader of the APC, Friday sent a delegation of eight party bigwigs to The Gambia to officially inaugurate and bless the new executive of the party.
The delegation headed by APC National Women’s Congress president Elizabeth Mans, is comprised of Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Kadija Sesay and other heavyweights of the party.
At the official inauguration held on Saturday 14 September 2013, at the Joint Officers Mess in Kotu, Mrs Mans read the letter of recognition and approval of the new executive signed by APC National Secretary General, Hon. Alhaji Osman F. Yansaneh and endorsed by President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma.
An excerpt of the letter addressed to APC Gambia Branch Chairman Ibrahim Koroma reads:“Let me use this opportunity to congratulate you on behalf of the Secretariat and to thank you for conducting a peaceful election. I wish to further inform you that I have received your executive list and wish to convey the recognition of the APC Secretariat.”
Mrs Mans encouraged Sierra Leoneans to continue to work hard, demonstrate love and oneness and be law-abiding wherever they find themselves.
She also enjoined Sierra Leoneans to continue to support and rally behind the APC, saying President Koroma is out to serve them and meet their economic, political and social aspirations.
Similar sentiments were expressed by the Sierra Leone High Commissioner to The Gambia, H.E. Alhaji Mohamed Kemo Fadika, in his keynote address cum advice. “I need unity, love, cooperation and cohesion among Sierra Leoneans in The Gambia,” HC Fadika said.
He also commended His Excellency President Yahya Jammeh and the government and people of The Gambia for their hospitality and love shown to Sierra Leoneans in The Gambia.
In his inaugural address, Chairman Ibrahim Koroma thanked all those who supported him through to lead the affairs of the party in The Gambia.
Whilst promising to faithfully serve the APC, Mr Koroma also called for support to the Gambia branch from President Koroma’s government.He as well urgedSierra Leoneansin The Gambia to be law-abiding and promised to extend a brotherly hand to all and sundry includingthe opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party, whose Gambia branch chairman Roland Yanni Dangha attended the occasion.
The jam-packed hall of Joint Officers Mess was turned red (APC party colour) by supporters and well-wishers of the party amid thunderous applause, fanfare and jubilation while members of the branch’s new executive were being named and graced.
