D500 False Pretence Case Mentioned

Inspector Mariama Fatty represented the IGP in a case involving one Seedy Faye who was charged with obtaining money by false pretence, a charge he denied.

Magistrate Sagarr Jahateh presided over the case.

According to the particulars of offence, on or about the 25th September, 2008, at Bakau the accused with intent to defraud took D500 from one Binta Jammeh, Esta Mendy, Safiatou Sowe and Mariama Jallow and promised them to sponsor them to pursue a course abroad.

The accused was subsequently granted bail in the sum of D1000 with a Gambian surety who should depose on affidavit of means and ID card.

The cause was adjourned to the 22nd January 2009 for hearing.
