The Banjul Magistrates' Court, presided over by Magistrate Surahata Danso on Monday 7th September 2009, granted bail to one Momodou Lamin Dibba, a UK-based Gambian in the sum of D500, 000 with two Gambian sureties who must have landed properties within the Greater Banjul Area.

Mr. Dibba, who was earlier arraigned before the Banjul Magistrates' Court last week is standing trial on a charge of stealing.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused person on 16th October 2008, at Tottenham Hale Rail Station, North London in the UK, fraudulently converted to his personal use the sum of 10, 000 Pounds sterling, which was given to him by Pa Federa for onward delivery to one Sheriffo Touray of Bakau.

He denied the charge.

At the last proceedings, Prosecutor Inspector Keita raised an objection to the court not to grant the accused bail on the grounds that he has been away for a long time.

Presiding Magistrate Danso granted the application and ordered the accused person to be kept in custody.

The case was adjourned to Thursday 10th September 2009 for continuation.
